Coral Gables Experiences Boom In Transit-Oriented Construction Projects Near Douglas Road Metrorail Station

Miami’s Coral Gables neighborhood has been experiencing an uptick in active transit-oriented residential, office and mixed-use construction projects. Architectural designer and urban planner Aaron DeMayo recently photographed the area from above, capturing the immense amount of on-going construction and recently completed developments surrounding the Douglas Road Metrorail Station parallel to South Dixie Highway (US Highway 1) between Southwest 37th and 38th Avenues. Sales have launched for the highly-anticipated Okan Tower, a 70-story mixed-use skyscraper planned to rise at 555 North Miami Avenue in the epicenter of Miami’s urban core. Designed by Behar Font & Partners for Turkish real estate developer Okan Group, the 902-foot-tall structure will be anchored by Hilton Hotel & Residences and yield 163 Sky Residences with exclusive owners-only amenities, 236 Condo-Hotel Residences, a five-star hotel-resort with 316 room and endless amenities, and Class A Office Space. Plans for the project are now being fast-tracked with Fortune Development Sales leading sales and marketing.

Neology Life Development Group Breaks Ground On Their 14-Story ‘The Julia’ Residential Tower In Allapattah

Neology Life Development Group, led by real estate developer Lissette Calderon, has broken ground on The Julia, a 14-story mixed-use building set to rise at 1625 Northwest 20th Street in Allapattah. Designed by Coral Gables-based Behar Font & Partners, the new structure will soon go vertical on a 73,442-square-foot interior lot nestled in between Northwest 15th and 17th Avenues, with Northwest 21st Street on the north. The project is named after Miami’s founder, Julia Tuttle, and is planned to yield approximately 426,000 square feet of new construction including 323 residential units, 15,000 square feet of ground floor retail, and 336 parking spaces.

Plans For The 70-Story Okan Tower Appear To Be Back On Track In Downtown Miami

After a year and a half long hiatus or so, plans for the Okan Group’s mixed-use 70-story Okan Tower have resurfaced and appear to be back on track. In a recent article from Miami Today, the company’s CEO Kasim Badak is quoted saying the pandemic halted all operations, but that they are back in business and moving forward. Designed by Coral Gables-based Behar Font & Partners, the 902-foot-tall skyscraper was originally planned to include 293 Hilton Hotel rooms, 389 residential units, 64,000 square feet of Class-A office space and 2,915 square feet of retail space.
