Real estate development firm Strategic Property Partners (SPP) recently announced Asher, a dynamic, highly amenitized new 22-story apartment tower at 1050 Water Street in Water Street Tampa, the 56-acre neighborhood transforming Downtown Tampa. In addition to offering a collection of rental residences, the developer has teamed up with Method Co., the celebrated Philadelphia-based hospitality company, to bring the first Florida location of their high-design extended-stay concept, ROOST Apartment Hotel, at Asher. The building is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record, and will offer a total of 490 thoughtfully-designed rental residences ranging from studio to two-bedroom homes and 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Asher is specifically located at the northern section of phase 1 at Water Street Tampa, bounded by East Cumberland Avenue to the north, South Nebraska Avenue to the west, the Tampa EDITION on the south and Water Street on the west. The building’s name is said to have drawn inspiration from ash trees, which symbolize creative expression, productivity, strength and longevity, as well as the Hebrew word for happy.

The building rises 273-feet and spans approximately 787,808-square-feet including the attached parking garage, offering a nod to Tampa’s industrial history with oversized divided-light windows that maximize natural light. Asher’s luxury rental residences will be located on the top 15 floors of the building, while ROOST Tampa will occupy the first six residential floors.

Residents will have access to a curated list of amenities including Water Street Tampa’s largest pool deck complete with cabanas, outdoor kitchens, an indoor-outdoor bar and an entertainment lawn. Asher will also feature a state-of-the-art fitness center, entertainment space, a screening lounge and a co- working space with private conference rooms.

“Renters today appreciate having a wide range of lifestyle options to choose from, and Asher caters to this trend by offering several residential experiences in one place,” said Lee Schaffler, Chief Portfolio Officer for SPP. “Our partnership with Method Co., coupled with Asher’s hospitality-level amenities and services, and the perks of living in the heart of the Water Street Tampa neighborhood add up to an unparalleled residential experience in Tampa.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with SPP as they transform Water Street Tampa into one of the most exciting new urban centers in the country,” said Randall Cook, CEO and Co-Founder of Method Co.

Blending the comfort and practicality of an apartment with the amenities and concierge services of a boutique hotel, ROOST Tampa will provide an elevated hotel option for those looking to stay longer in Tampa. ROOST Tampa will offer 97 studio, one-and two-bedroom homes, as well as select co-living units. Offering a move-in, turn-key ready experience, ROOST Tampa homes will feature fully equipped kitchens, modern appliances and furniture inspired by the rich heritage of Latin America that is prevalent throughout Tampa’s neighborhoods, and pieces from designers including Beni Rugs, Luteca, Menu, and Gubi.

“ROOST Tampa will be our largest and most ambitious ROOST project to date, and our first location in Florida. This exceptional project will offer the opportunity to live in an incredible building with all the luxuries, amenities and services of modern living.” said Randall Cook, CEO and Co-Founder of Method Co.

Pre-leasing at Asher will begin in January with move-ins slated for March, and ROOST Tampa will open in the building in Spring 2022. SPP announced earlier this year that Wagamama, the international Asian-inspired restaurant brand, will open its first Florida location in the building in early 2022.

Management of Asher will be handled by ZRS Management. Construction on the building is being overseen by Suffolk Construction.
