Sirata Beach Resort to Undergo Expansion at 5300 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach, Florida

Lovers of St. Petersburg, Florida, will be delighted to learn that Sirata Beach Resort is moving ahead with a massive multi-million-dollar expansion. St. Pete Rising reports that Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex purchased the 13-acre property for $207 million in 2022––one of the most expensive hotel acquisitions in Pinellas County history.

It plans to renovate the already-existing resort. Sources note that this involves eliminating 57 rooms, upgrading the swimming pool, and relocating the on-site restaurant (Compass Grille) to another location. The renovation also includes demolishing a 98-key hotel.

Developers intend to add an additional 420 rooms spread across two towers. Per the Tampa Bay Business Journal, one tower will measure 10 stories and offer 290 luxury units, along with a three-story garage, ballroom, and meeting space.

The other eight-story tower will offer 130 keys and have amenities geared toward families. When construction completes, Sirata Beach Resort will have well over 600 rooms. As noted, Columbia Sussex is the developer. Pivot Studio is the architect, Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer, and Stearns Weaver Miller is the legal and land planning consultant.
