Belleair Development Group is set to revitalize the 98-year-old Westminster Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg’s Old Northeast neighborhood. The property, vacant for over a decade, will be transformed into a single-family home and two townhomes. Originally designed in 1926 by architect Archie Parrish, the site has been a local historic landmark.
The redevelopment will preserve the building’s historical integrity, restoring features like stained-glass windows and the front porch, while incorporating modern elements such as accent tiles, a pool, and decorative plaster.
City officials and the Community Preservation and Planning Commission approved the plans despite initial concerns about non-traditional design features. The development includes a 5,935-square-foot single-family home with four to five bedrooms, a balcony, and a pool, as well as two townhomes ranging from 4,408 to 5,534 square feet. Air-conditioned spaces in the homes will range between 2,271 and 4,422 square feet. Each unit will include covered porches and connected garages.
The project will be constructed in phases, with six to eight parking spaces provided on-site. Belleair Development Group aims to start construction this year and is also exploring future redevelopment of nearby parcels into additional single-family homes.
The Westminster Presbyterian Church redevelopment will take shape at 126 11th Avenue Northeast, St. Petersburg, FL, 33701, in Pinellas County.
