Zion Village, an affordable housing development for seniors, is slated to break ground next week. The 75-unit complex will offer residency to those earning 30 percent to 70 percent of the area median income (AMI).
The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that 12 units are reserved for those earning 30 percent, three units for those making 50 percent, 34 for those earning 60 percent, and the remaining 26 for those earning at or below 70 percent. The City of Jacksonville notes that the city’s median household income is $70,533.
Conceptual renderings from the Tampa Housing Authority show a garden-style community measuring four stories above grade. These same renderings also suggest a ground-floor lobby and surface parking spots, although it’s unclear how many. Other sources estimate the project’s square footage at 69,018, resting on a two-acre parcel.
Zion Village intends to meet the area’s growing demand for affordable senior housing, and there’s another similar venture unfolding in southwest Florida right now. Previously, Florida YIMBY reported on Heritage Oaks, an 80-unit development that broke ground in May. Located in Largo, the community will offer housing for those earning at or below 60 percent of the AMI.
Zion Village will be located at 5920 Robert Tolle Drive, Riverview, FL, 33578, in Hillsborough County.
