JDS Development And Major Food Group Unveil Scale Model Of Mixed-Use Supertall ‘Major’

A scale model was revealed at a recent event hosted by developers JDS Development Group (JDS) and Major Food Group (MFG) for Major, an 82-story, 1,049-foot supertall skyscraper being planned for a 0.52-acre site at 888 Brickell Avenue. The image, spotted by YIMBY on the instagram stories of both JDS and Major, gives us a bit more insight on preliminary architectural details and color pallets of the design from Studio Sofield and ODP Architecture & Design. The developers have already applied for building permits from the Federal Aviation Administration and are nearing approvals for plans submitted to Miami-Dade County. The project would comprise 259 condominium units, 50,490 square feet of space for food and beverage and 250 stacked parking spaces via a car elevator.

JDS Development Group Submits 1,049-Foot Supertall Skyscraper ‘Major’ To The FAA

Major, another supertall skyscraper of mixed-uses planned to rise in the heart of Miami’s financial district, has been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for review. The developers, JDS Development Group and Major Food Group, hope to attain building permits to develop an 82-story, 1,049-foot-tall tower at 888 Brickell Avenue – a 0.52-acre site on the northwest corner of the intersection with Southeast 10th Street currently improved with a 7-story, 50-year-old office building. An elite team of designers and engineers has been assembled for the project, which includes New York-based Studio Sofield along with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record; Desimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer and MG Engineering is the MEP engineer; SLS is the code consultant and Kimley-Horn the landscape architect and civil engineer; Lerch Bates will handle vertical transportation and Walker Parking as the parking consultant; Socotec Consulting Inc. will oversee all enclosures, waterproofing and roofing.

JDS Development Group Gets Utilities Deal With Miami-Dade County For 1 Southside Park in Brickell

JDS Development Group has signed a utilities deal with Miami-Dade County’s Water and Sewer Department for 1 Southside Park, a 62-story two-towered mixed-use development planned to rise 708-feet and 754-feet in Brickell, Miami. With site work already underway, the deal will connect the buildings to Miami’s water supply and sewer lines, providing utilities for 1,195 apartments, 200 hotel rooms, 165,000 square feet of office space, an 86,151-square-foot spa, a 23,312-square-foot full service restaurant, 1,417 square feet of fast food space, a 5,120-square-foot banquet hall, a 13,673-square-foot fitness center and a 32,000-square-foot fire station. The buildings are designed by New York City’s SHoP Architects with James Corner Field Operations as the landscape architect.

FAA Applications Filed For Two Towers At 1 Southside Park In Brickell, Miami

Applications have been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) seeking approvals for the construction of two towers at 1 Southside Park in Brickell, Miami. The buildings would rise 754-feet, or 766-feet above sea level, and 708-feet, or 720-feet above sea level, and would be located mainly along Southwest 2nd Avenue between Southwest 11th and 12th Streets near the western-most perimeters of the Brickell neighborhood. The project is being developed by New York City’s JDS Development Group and is designed by SHoP Architects, the duo behind Brooklyn’s first supertall – the 1,066-foot-tall The Brooklyn Tower, and the world’s most slender supertall skyscraper, the 1,428-foot-tall 111 West 57th Street. 1 Southside Park is projected to yield nearly 1,200 residential units, approximately 200,000 square feet of Class-A office space, 23,312 square feet of restaurant space, 1,417 square feet for a fast-food restaurant, a 189-room Treehouse Hotel operated by SH Hotels & Resorts, a 32,000-square-foot fire house and 1,000 parking spaces.

JDS Development Group And Major Food Group Plan A 1,049-Foot-Tall Ultra Luxury Skyscraper In Brickell

Another supertall skyscraper has been proposed for Miami, this time at 888 Brickell Avenue in the city’s Financial District. Prominent New York City-based developer JDS Development Group and restaurant and hospitality company Major Food Group are teaming up to develop Major, a 1,049-foot-tall mixed-use developmentwith the goal of building “the most luxurious residential tower in the world”. The building would rise on a 22,568-square-foot lot at the southeast corner of Southeast 10th Street and Brickell Avenue, and would replace an existing 7-story office building built in 1972. Plans for the supertall include developing 259 condominiums, hospitality spaces, and various restaurants.
