St. Petersburg officials have approved a boutique condominium project that will also preserve a historic home built in 1937.
Sai Ocean Front Residences is set to start construction this summer. The low-rise luxury development will occupy the site of the Gulf Towers Motel, which was demolished in February 2023.
Due to community concerns, Skyward Living, a St. Pete-based developer led by local Hudson Harr, is revising the plans for the Lake House condominium tower on Mirror Lake. Initially proposed as an 18-story building, the new plan scales the development to an 11-story upscale condominium at 200 Mirror Lake Drive North, designed by Tim Clemmons and Jenny Miers of Place Architecture.
Developers are continuing to move forward with Lake House in St. Petersburg, although it has scaled back the venture significantly amid community concerns. Initially, the residential tower was to measure 18 stories above grade and offer 77 units.
After reaching completion in 2022, Skyway Lofts is getting a second phase. Dubbed “Skyway Lofts II,” the venture will feature 66 affordable housing units, with many reserved for those making 60 percent of the area median income (AMI).
