First Look: Renderings Revealed For Related Companies’ Redevelopment Of The Deauville Beach Resort Property In Miami Beach

New renderings have been revealed for 6701 Collins Avenue, a two-towered mixed-use development currently in the planning stages and set to become the replacement of the former Deauville Beach Resort in North Beach, Miami Beach. Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry of Gehry Partners, LLP and developed by New York’s Related Companies, the development firm behind the $25 billion Hudon Yards complex, the transformative project calls for two similarly designed towers rising as high as 375 feet and comprising a 175-key high-end hotel and a residential component with 150 luxury condominiums. The development gained approval from the Miami Beach City Commission in July, and will now be considered for approval by North Beach residents in the next referendum on November 8, in which Related has asked for zoning changes to increase height and density.

Brightline Tops Off Aventura Station With Placement Of 131-Foot-Long Pedestrian Skybridge

Intercity rail provider Brightline and its contractor Lemartec have topped off the Aventura Station. This topping-off marks the completion of vertical construction. The topping-off occurred in the early morning of October 8 and consisted of putting a 131-foot long, 68-ton pedestrian sky bridge on two 41-foot-high vertical transportation towers over 90 minutes. Stretching across Harriet Tubman Highway (formally known as West Dixie Highway), the sky bridge is the final piece of the Aventura station’s structure and connects the station to the platform.

Designed by Studio Sofield with ODP Architecture & Design as the architect of record and solely developed by Michael Stern’s JDS Development Group, the 1,048-foot-tall structure is planned to provide 1,178,568 square feet of space including 259 residential units, 52,144 square feet of health/fitness, 38,727 square feet of food and beverage, and 273 parking spaces operated by a valet. The application is pursuant to Section 33C-15 of the County Code of Ordinances for the Property, filed on October 4, 2022.

The development proposes 417 residential units comprising 223 townhomes and 194 villa residences across 36 buildings, 11,863 square feet of amenity space, and 946 parking spaces. Developers File Plans For The Underline’s Expansion To Metrorail Douglas Station

Miami-Dade County planners will consider plans to expand The Underline recreational trail into the Douglas Road Metrorail Station property located at the northwest corner of the intersection between Douglas Road and South Dixie Highway. The county-owned site is approximately 7.54 net acres in size and includes the mixed-use transit-oriented development Link at Douglas by 13th Floor Investments and Adler Group, the Douglas Road Metrorail Station, and the proposed Underline expansion, which would run more or less below the Metrorail tracks. The trail’s expansion into this region of Miami, designed by Arquitectonica with ArquitectonicaGEO, makes up part of Phase 2 which also includes the section under the Coconut Grove Metrorail Station. Phase 2 will span 2.14 miles between Southwest 13th Street to Southwest 19th Avenue and is scheduled to complete in the Summer of 2023.
