Shoma Group Acquires 2.5-Acre Site Near Coral Gables To Develop Two 18-Story Mixed-Use Towers Designed By MSA Architects

Miami-based developer Shoma Group (Shoma) has purchased a 2.5-acre site at 3650 Bird Road, currently home to Deel Volvo, near Coral Gables for $34 million. The property, bound by Douglas Road to the west and Metrorail’s elevated railway to the south, will be cleared to make way for Shoma One, a two-towered 18-story mixed-use development designed by MSA Architects with 391-unit apartment community and a Shoma Bazaar food hall. The development is scheduled to break ground in January 2023 and is expected to be completed in 18-24 months with an estimated cost of $220 million to build.

City Furniture To Build Store and Warehouse at 3307 South Frontage Road, Plant City, Florida

City Furniture’s been a home improvement staple in South Florida since 1971. Now, the brand has its sights set on a new one million-square-foot warehouse and store in Plant City. The venture, standing on 11 acres, will cost $100 million to build.

Madison Point Apartments Tops Out In Naranja, Miami-Dade County

Construction has topped off for Madison Point Apartments, a multi-building garden-style mixed-use development community under construction along South Dixie Highway intersecting with Henderson Street in Naranja, Miami-Dade County. Designed by Palenzuela & Hevia Design Group and developed by JQ Group, the development is comprised of four 4-story buildings containing 263 residential units and 14,355 square feet of ground floor commercial space. Davie-based ANF Group, Inc., the general contractor on the project, officially announced the topping out of the concrete structures, and is scheduled for completion towards the end of this year.

New York City Developers Propose Bjarke Ingles Group-Designed 44-Story Mixed-Use Skyscraper For Downtown Jacksonville’s Riverfront

American Lions LLC, a joint venture between New York City-based residential developers Fetner Properties and the Lions Group, have proposed to develop a 44-story residential building on the site of the Former Jacksonville Landing site in Downtown Jacksonville, beside the planned Perkins & Will-designed 7-acre park at Riverfront Plaza along Independent Drive West. The tower would rise 486-feet, which would be the third tallest in the city, and is designed by world-renown Danish architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). With an estimated price tag of $166.6 million, the development would bring 333 residential rental apartments along with an integrated parking garage for 330 vehicles, a 7,500-square-foot restaurant on the 43rd floor and a Skygarden Terrace with retail venues and direct access to the public park. American Lions LLC is the sole bidder in the Downtown Investment Authority’s (DIA) request for proposals for the site; plans for the BIG-designed tower were presented to a scoring committee of city officials on April 26, 2022.

Related Group’s 41-Story Miami Station Tower Is Approved By The FAA To Rise 539-Feet

The Federal Aviation Administration has approved building permits for Miami Station, a 41-story mixed-use tower at 525 Northwest 2nd Avenue in Downtown Miami’s Overtown District. Designed by ODP Architecture & Design and developed by the Related Group, the structure is permitted to rise 539-feet, or 546-feet above sea level. According to construction permits currently under review, Miami Station will yield approximately 730,000 square feet including an estimated 247,000 square feet of office space, roughly 298,000 square feet of residential space across 301 dwelling units, and a podium comprising nearly 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail and 6 levels of parking for over 500 vehicles. FAA building permits were approved on March 25, 2022, and are valid for the next 18 months, meaning Related has from now until October 25, 2023 to begin vertical construction.
